En parall\u00e8le, alarm\u00e9 par le faible niveau de nos \u00e9l\u00e8ves en math\u00e9matiques r\u00e9v\u00e9l\u00e9 par les enqu\u00eates TIMSS et PISA, il a mis en place la Mission Math\u00e9matiques, qui a effectu\u00e9 un remarquable travail d\u2019audition, marqu\u00e9 par la publication du rapport Villani Torossian, et continue \u00e0 \u0153uvrer pour l\u2019enseignement de cette discipline.<\/p>\n<p><strong>N\u00e9anmoins, la communaut\u00e9 scientifique et math\u00e9matique, les enseignants et enseignantes du secondaire comme du sup\u00e9rieur, s\u2019inqui\u00e8tent de la place laiss\u00e9e aux math\u00e9matiques dans les nouveaux programmes du lyc\u00e9e, qui tendent \u00e0 les r\u00e9server aux \u00e9l\u00e8ves motiv\u00e9s, et ne semblent pas encore \u00e0 la hauteur des enjeux identifi\u00e9s.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Le tronc commun de la voie g\u00e9n\u00e9rale exclut les math\u00e9matiques en tant que discipline autonome. Sur les 16 heures hebdomadaires, 12 sont consacr\u00e9es aux \u00abhumanit\u00e9s\u00bb, puis 2 \u00e0 l\u2019EPS et 2 \u00e0 un \u00abenseignement scientifique\u00bb dans lequel se retrouvent physique, chimie, biologie, g\u00e9ologie, informatique et math\u00e9matiques.
