[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]We are happy to announce the publication of our handbook of \u201cMarine Model Organisms in Experimental Biology\u201d by CRC press<\/strong>. This 500-page book comprises 24 chapters dedicated to a large diversity of marine organisms that are used in experimental biology such as marine bacteria, cephalochordates, brown algae, crustaceans, annelids, tunicates, echinoderms, unicellular relative of metazoans, etc…<\/p>\n

\"\"Most of the chapters are organized to report on the history of the model, its geographical distribution, its life cycle, embryogenesis and anatomy. All functional approaches, including the most recent technical advances, are also listed for each model.<\/p>\n

Finally, what are the most topical research issues? Responses are largely exposed and discussed within the different chapters. It is not a surprise to find that these questions are covering a large disciplinary field showing that research using marine organisms is not restricted to one biological topic but belongs to neurosciences as well as to cell biology, developmental biology, molecular studies, host-symbiont relationship, Evo-Devo and Eco-Evo-Devo.<\/p>\n

Thanks to an Erasmus+<\/strong><\/a> grant (strategic partnership programme, DigitalMarine project<\/strong><\/a>), this handbook is OPEN ACCESS. The final PDF (or part of it) can be downloaded here<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

The other deliverable of this project was the creation of a web platform <\/strong><\/a>dedicated to the use of marine organisms in life science. This platform, hosting videos, interviews, interactive drawings, filmed courses, experimental work videos, goes with a practical course in marine station, the Schmid Training Course, to set up a hybrid training (mixing online and in-person teaching).<\/p>\n
