I attended the 26th European Drosophila Research Congress which took place in Lausanne from 5th to 8th September. This meeting gathered a large number of researchers from the European Drosophila community (https://www.edrc2019.com/). Various domains of biology are covered including for instance developmental biology, cell biology, neurobiology, molecular biology, genetics or evolution around a common model, the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster.
I was selected to give a talk in the RNA biology session. During this congress, I had the opportunity to discuss – before and after my talk – with some researchers who work on piRNA biology, chromatin modifications and germline development. Those scientific interactions were interesting, important and very useful because it was an opportunity to have feedback about our recent results. A researcher who works in the Institute of Molecular Biology in Vienna gave me many suggestions and idea for future experiments, he also gave me some advices to publish in high impact factor journal. Another researcher coming from Lyon shared with me some observations he made in flies that our lab sent him a few months ago. Hence, this meeting was a very positive experience. I plan to do all the experiments that have been proposed and I’m sure that it will be an added value for the paper that we are preparing.
