I really enjoyed listening to the talk of Mao Qiyan on Thursday 8th of April entitled “Multi-scale mechanical self-organisation in human iPSC-derived myofibers”. Her presentation focused on the differentiation of myogenic precursors derived from human iPSCs into myofibers. She wanted to understand how and where tissue morphogenesis happens to form bundle-like myofibers into tissue culture plate. Her work emphasized on the crucial role of mechanical crosstalk during the process of tissue morphogenesis. She succeeded in following in a day-by-day manner the evolution of myogenic differentiation and the fate of myogenic precursors in forming myofibers. My thesis subject being related to her research subject I found it really enriching and fascinating in terms of scientific knowledge and scientific techniques. Thanks to her presentation, it allowed me to consider potential new approaches to pursue with equanimity my PhD.
