The Weinstein Cardiovascular Development and Regeneration Conference is an annual meeting designed for researchers investigating normal and abnormal development of the cardiovascular system, as well as regeneration of the heart. Since the first official meeting in 1994, and along the years, it has provided a unique opportunity for young scientists including PhD students to present and discuss their research in developmental biology of the heart with the leaders in the field of research.
I thus took advantage of this 3-days meeting, to present my data collected during my thesis in front of my poster displayed during the entire conference. I really enjoyed the “informal” atmosphere of the conference, so feeling myself free to discuss unpublished data. The two sessions of posters allowed me to discuss my results and to interact with many attendees of the meeting. I had also the chance to discuss with PhD students and post-doctoral fellows from other countries about their labs and their way of carrying out their research as well as their day to day life. I learnt a lot from talks presenting pieces of research using other models than mice, specifically zebrafish and other approaches of epigenetics. I could also appreciate how popular has become the single-cell- sequencing approach in our field of research. Besides all short talks, I attended the very documented keynote lectures of the conference.
I am very grateful to the SFBD and ITMO BCDE to have given me this great opportunity to attend for the first time the Weinstein conference which is such an “institution” in our field of research and to explore Indianapolis.
