Shaping Life 2 was a great opportunity for me to discover new models and to present my research in front of a very broad audience. In addition to the Evo-Devo and Emerging Models session which taught me a lot, I particularly enjoyed seeing the talk of Enrico Cohen on the way plants create shape resisting mechanical stress, as he was presenting an opposite approach to mine on similar subjects. It helped me rethink critically my working hypothesis and gave me great insight into divergent opinions in my field.
In general this meeting gave me tools to grow as a scientist and to expand the way I think about my research.
→Alicia presented a short talk entitled: « Turning plant cells into soap bubbles: FERONIA and microtubules independently contribute to mechanical feedback and turn plants from passive to active material «
