I am a 3rd year PhD student, performing my thesis in the Unité de Biologie Moléculaire, Cellulaire et du Développement (MCD), UMR 5077, CBI in Toulouse under the supervision of Dr. Michèle CROZATIER.
I was really happy to be able to attend the Shaping Life 2 online conference from 7th to 9th April 2021, which gathers many excellent researchers and a wide range of very interesting and exciting topics. As a 3rd year PhD student, this conference was a really good opportunity to present my thesis project. I gave my talk in the session of Stem Cell & Organoids, and I got questions, one of which I never thought about and which is very relevant. Thus now I am very excited and I will test this novel proposition.
What impressed me the most is Jacqueline Tabler’s presentation: “collagen network stability regulates morphogenesis and fate maintenance in the suture stem cell niche”. The specific cellular organization is crucial for regulating cell fate within the suture, as disrupting collagen cross-linking not only perturbs cell and extracellular matrix organization but also alters gene expression to promote skeletal differentiation. Her interesting research provides a deeper understanding of niche function.
The problem that I encounter the most concerns the lack of direct interactions with other researchers. I really wish that the next meeting will take place on site.
In conclusion, I really and sincerely want to thank SFBD and Shaping life organizers for giving me the excellent opportunity to participate in this great meeting and also for giving me the unique chance to present my work and get back very constructive comments.
