Finalist Thesis Prize SFBD 2019: Dr. Chooyoung Baek
Finalist :
→ Prize of 300 €
In 2019, the SFBD chose Dr. Chooyoung Baek as finalist of the thesis prize for her doctorate entitled: « Role of Notch signaling pathway during neural delamination in the vertebrate embryo ». Her work was published in Plos Biology in 2018 and Neuron in 2017. Chooyoung BAEK did her thesis under the supervision of Dr. Xavier Morin in the laboratory « Cell division and neurogenesis » at the Institut de Biologie de l’École Normale Supérieure, in Paris.
About the winner:
The work of Chooyoung Baek’s Thesis also relates to the Notch pathway, but at the level of the delamination process of neuronal cells in the chicken embryo. Her work highlighted a very fine temporal regulation of Notch activity by two actors, Dll1 and Mib1, so that neuronal differentiation can take place in a coordinated manner with the delamination process.
