Thank you again for organizing such a great online meeting, I really enjoyed it! My abstract got selected for a poster, it is my first time presenting a poster online, and I had a great experience using “gather town”, I had a feeling at one moment that I am talking to the visitors in person! I got more than 10 visitors at my poster and I got great questions and we had active discussions! The gather town also offered us opportunities to discuss with old friends working in the same field, making the exchange of scientific progress available under pandemic. I am also impressed by the various topics covered by one single meeting! I am working on neuronal development in drosophila, I didn’t expect to get interesting and inspiring talks/posters from gastruloids (the great talk from Alfonso took me into the field of gastruloids), computational science ( Stefan’s talk about their latest developed spot detection method just gave me some clues about analyzing the smFISH data I got recently) and also plants science etc. One of my favorite talk goes to Denis Jabaudon, who aims to find the molecular determinant of the projection specificity of a population of cortical sensory neurons in mice. I am working on addressing similar scientific questions in drosophila: dissecting the mechanisms controlling neuronal specification. It is great to find out that a lot of concepts/working hypothesis is shared by both drosophila and vertibrates! We had a further discussion about our work by e-mails and we will for sure keep following each other’s work!
I did enjoy this 3-days-online meeting and I learned a lot from it, really looking forward to the shapinglife3 to come!
